# An item with the same name already exists (read node)

So every time I have flame overwrite a precomp with an existing read node I get a popup saying “An item with the same name already exists”

and I’m asked if I want to add, rename, or replace.

BUT

“replace” breaks the old one and drops the new one in unattached.  
“add” doesn’t break anything, but now I have two read nodes.  
“rename” is not good housekeeping in this context.

Where is my “we’re cool, don’t do anything” option?

That’s not the only place where you don’t get a cancel button. I wanted a cancel button when you import a bunch of files that already exist in the directory. There is no cancel button, just add, replace.I’ve asked for this, but apparently it’s more complicated and not as simple as it seems.

**Media panel: add cancel or ignore to the “add / replace / rename” options to the items already exist dialog window.**

This is a problem that has already arisen, but for some unknown reason, it has not been resolved yet.
