Hey all, what are some ideas for adding twinkling bokeh’d city lights to add visual interest through night car windows? Thanks!

Hey Wren! I would try just adding points of light where you want the bokehs, tracked in, then play with crok\_twinkle or MD\_twinkle to animate that look, then run through y\_lensblur for the nice bokeh with noise.

If you have Sapphire and are lazy (like me) there’s S\_BokehLights. It even has a ‘City’ preset!

I often paint small colored dots and then knock them out of focus with whatever defocus node you like (you may need to color correct the dots way up to have them get that nice blooming). to give them some life I’ll multiply the dots pre-defocus with a noise of some speed and intensity. Adding a small animated distort also looks nice.

ah! this is great - getting that noise on top and scaling it inside action to be able to adjust the transparency and grit amount really twinkles it nicely.
