Sounds like it’s time for a PS5 Pro!

I got a switch 2 on a lark and it was an utter godsend when my cross country flight got delayed overnight in Denver.

I mean I was only playing Hades 1 on it, but regardless, made that night fly by.

> The original wipeout on PlayStation was peak video game for me I think, especially over a network. Great sound track Great visuals (thanks Iain Anderson and designers republic) Quick games and back to work/real life/ washing dishes/changing diapers/paying bills/using batch to make mattes. I think that was 30 years ago.

It’s insane to me that they have not recaptured that lightning in a bottle. They’ve tried now and again, but nothing had the magic of the original.

> …t’s got stellar art direction. Really nails the look and vibe. I will say, traversing office spaces sucks, and this game has a lot of them. So much clutter, it’s not an ideal game environment. But overall the game is fun, there are plenty of non-office spaces, and you can get it for probably like $10 these days. And Ace Combat 8 came out and looks great, but also exactly like the last six games.

Control was my goty that year. The world building was weird and so amazing. I scoured the game for every last drop of lore, and it felt like you were in an ep of Stranger Things only weirder. Being able to telekinetically beat your enemies to death with an entire office full of midcentury furniture and OTHER ENEMIES while hovering around like a badass was peak!

I just beat Resonant and while I liked the first one more, it was an amazing game. Gorgeous levels, crazy world-building, not as much Finnish janitor weirdness, but definitely some Remedy insanity, and different but still really fun gameplay. The Alan wake games aren’t my speed, but boy howdy do I enjoy the Federal Bureau of Comtrol!

Ace Combat 8 is excellent. Despite being the same as every other Ace Combat game since the PS1 (fly your airplane that can carry 100 missiles, shoot air and ground targets, fly through a tunnel on the last mission, etc…) it feels _better_. The characters are better, it’s the first game where I think the bombs are effective (my super hornet gets a guided bomb that hits a whole row of targets and it’s outstanding), and it looks so good.

I’m having more fun with it than I expected, and while I don’t think I’ll ever get to the point where I’m beating every mission with only the machine gun, I plan on going through the story a couple of times. Worth it if you’re into this sort of thing.

I’ve never played it but I’m always profoundly impressed by Microsoft flight simulator.
