# New to BMD... free sync?

Previously I was on Linux with AJA and in the flame setup there were “Free Sync” options in the Preview settings.
Now I’m on BMD Studio Mini and I don’t see the Free Sync options in Preview. Is there a way to free-sync and not get the ‘no sync’ pop-up every time I start flame?

back in 2023 they made the horrible decision to 1) make sync a pulldown, and 2) default it to House/SDI or something, even though basically ZERO people use that anymore as the whole idea of facility wide sync is gone with VTRs
