I was having the same problem, then magically I wasn’t. Sadly, since everything was so new to me, I don’t know what I did. It might be that I’m not deleting the old type, I just select it all and over write.

It is hard to guess what is going on because there are many different possible workflows to achieve what you are describing.

That being said, there shouldn’t be any changes comparing with what was available in the Text Timeline FX before.

- The attributes of the first selected character (if there’s an explicit selection) or from the character to the left of the cursor in Edit Mode should be displayed.
- The Insert / Overwrite switch located to the left of the Tool drop-down in the viewing area toolbar can be used to insert new characters, or overwrite the existing ones, keeping the same attributes.

If would help if you contacted support so they can investigate with you or make a screen recording so we can better see the workflow you are using.

Thanks for your responses. It’s still not working for me. Here’s a video where I tried select all, backspacing to delete and insert/overwrite. I’ll connect with support and update here if there is a solution. Thanks.

I think it’s not possible to do this if your attributes are animated. Size, opacity and italic are character attributes. As soon as you change the character, it loses those attributes. It assigns all attributes the current state, but with no keyframes. You cant even copy the original keyframes and paste them into the new type node. Sadly I think this is a feature, not a bug. You can animate the size using the axis scale. You can animate the opacity with a dissolve on the timeline. You can animate the italic with shear. This can all be done for Layer, Paragraph or Character. They all behave a little differently. The shear centre does not follow the axis centre.
