Now if we could just paint them out of the sky… Where is y_wireless matchbox, sky edition?
Contrails actually account for 35% of aviation’s climate impact, and 1% of the total climate impact when they stick around and seed cloud cover that traps heat.
We see that here in the NYC skies quite a bit. A very busy air corridor and there are mornings where you can watch the clouds being stitched together by planes overhead.
Thats the offline brief right? “Please do sky replace on this shot”
Real photo from Christchurch, NZ.

Could use a few flares.
The morning show over the NYC air space was spectacular. Crisp air, coffee, and sky paintings…
The 5:50 AA BOS-DFW flight, with a hint of pink at 34,000ft

Nonetheless, we headed out around 1 to the lake, to see whatever we could see.
And what we saw was this:
I’d like to thank the weather in Vermont for cooperating.
The vignette is a little heavy.
You’re in a cloud tank outtake from close encounters…
Mammatus clouds. I was just looking at them myself. Now I’m waiting for a rainbow, but I think the air has dried too much.
Cool, didn’t know about their type/name, just looked it up.
