Anyone used slapshot AI camera tracking. According to google it’s the leading auto tracking tool. ---

I like borisfx Syntheyes Fast as fuck Accurate as you can be fucked Integrated as you can be fucked Not fucked though Extraordinarily good software You can teach even the most obstinate flame artists how to use it in minutes. 60% of them will not ignore it. Great software. Great support. Obviously YMMV ---

It’s separate software Not an ofx The integration is very nice but without customization can be 100% destructive. The documentation is deep but in some critical areas it is hopelessly wrong. The most obvious error is where your customization files live. Bearing in mind that nobody reads manuals this is an irrelevance. ---

Totally agree with @philm SynthEyes for the win. Slapshot! Failed miserably with a fairly straightforward track. I even tracked it with Flame’s traditional tracker. SynthEyes, chewed it and spat it out in less than a minute. ---

Like when cars are described as, “best in it’s class (of one)” But also, google’s an ouroboros of AI slop now, so it could be just google confidently stating something untethered from reality. ---

my “starter workflow” for Syntheyes is to hit the big green button, then once the camera solution is produced, use the lasoo tool to delete obviously wrong trackers and re-solve the shot. That’ll crack a lot of shots. The 2d trackers (called supervised trackers) take a little bit of learning, but are flame-like enough (albeit so much better). Using the ASDF keys to jump between frames and keyframes when doing supervised tracks is very helpful. ---

Syntheyes is my go to but I’ve had some luck with slapshot when I wasn’t getting a solve with syntheyes. There isn’t any customization with it, you get what you get ---

Well Thats encouraging Good software tweaking the mind of one of the world’s best flame artists. Do good things Jon I remember that my first ever 3d track was with the alpha version of 3d equalizer on an O2 in the basement of smoke and mirrors for your vaccination commercials in the middle of the 90s. Blew my mind loading the results into flame v5. I never do that kind of manual tracking any more. ---

This plus “delete auto trackers that aren’t on world fixed points before solving” and “put in the proper filmback and lens if you have it” will sort you on 90% of matchmoves.
