Im trying this out as im in the same boat. I’m trying to avoid any softness in the original plate, but i cant seem to get the matchbox to work, is there anything im missing or any advice to get it work you might have please?
You need to append the batch setup that was exported from 3de. It’ll have all the values for their matchbox shader as well as the correct resize nodes.
As for the softness, you’ll always take a filtering hit…it’s unavoidable. Ideally you don’t undistort → work → redisort the entire image, just what you’re touching.
Yeh for this job we might need to. Annoyingly nuke has filtering options within the 3de node that doesn’t soften the plate, I was hoping to try the options with the matchbox from 3de but yeh can’t get it to work. Sorry what do you mean append the batch setup in 3de? Thanks for your time
Other way around, you need to append the batch setup that is exported from 3de into your batch where you want to use it. You can’t just load the matchbox itself.
As for Nuke not softening the image at all, I don’t see how that’s possible. Any sub-pixel transformation will result in some degree of softening. There’s two option within the 3de matchbox for filtering. See which is best if your situation.
