When I use geometry, the edges are really hard, is there any other way than using HardwareAA?
Hi @jin and welcome,
Hardware AA is the fastest method but you could turn up the software AA under action/node prefs as well but this will have an impact on performance.
You can also have a matte output of your geometry and try edgeblur downstream…
Hope this helps
hi @sinan
Thank you for your reply.
In the past, the software AA used to be cleaner, but since a certain version, I can no longer get a clean result when I increase the sample.
Edge blur is one method, but I don’t think it’s the best because it rounds off the jaggies.
What do you guys do?
You could slightly increase the softness value 1.2 - 1.6
Or if you can afford the rendering penalty, resample up twice the scene for rendering and resize back to original afterwards. Ala nvidia style
Hardware AA does it for me most of the time. Could you maybe share a screenshot from hw_AA and sw_AA? It “should” be OK. Of course depends on your output res as well…
Depending on the geo, you could also try subdividing it so you have more vertices. This helps smooth out rough edges on circles, etc.
