Grey Screen

Hello!

Lately I heard clients asking to work with a grey screen to do compositing. Is this a new trend or am I not aware of some new technique/software?

It’s a thing in some circles. No special “trick” to it other than loads of roto.

Still photo editors like grey. The rest of us, not so much.

Is this in regards to screen replacement or a whole key? I can see the reasoning behind that, or for a stills shoot but surely it would not be much fun for anything else.

Some of the reasoning I got was about the DP trying to avoid spill. It is 2021

Making grey from green is easy. Plan on cutting mattes for editorial too.

Yep just published out 34 shots for gnarly roto this week as somebody thought we couldn’t despill green :frowning:
