State of the Union (Flame Edition)

How is everyone doing work wise these days?

I have been mostly freelance for the last 23 years, and doing really great for most of those years. Last year the company I was perma-lance for for the last 5 years started having issues paying and after some discourse I left my position with them.

Since then, around 6 months ago now, I have worked for only 2 weeks. So this is rather concerning and scary. So, instead of feeling isolated and wondering if this is just a ‘me’ issue, I want to know how the rest of us are doing right now in this climate.

How has work been for everyone?

  • Work has been great - no noticable decline in jobs
  • Work has been semi regular (working 50-75%)
  • Work has been slow (working 25% of normal)
  • Work has been almost non-existent (not working)

End of last year was very slow for me. Now it is getting better I feel.

TVC is kinda weird right now but we’re staying mostly busy. I wish I had more work for my freelance friends.

seems a little slow, but feels like it’s improving. I hope I’m right; I have no other skills. Haha.

I have been extremely busy lately. However, I’m not doing TVC. We (the shop I work for) does a LOT of trailer and marketing and promotions for some of the big streaming services. We have a decent sized staff, so unfortunately we’re not overflowing yet.

Okay so sounds like more of a case of musical chairs, where I missed my chair :see_no_evil_monkey:

23 days late on here, but I worked with Jan for 5 years and every second of it was an absolute pleasure. If you have any freelance needs coming up I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him most highly. You’ll love having him on your project and the work will all be great.

Gotta agree with all that. Jan is definitely a rock star!

I’m in work hell, I need a break, a long break, but I don’t know when.

Me too dude, hoping for a better second half of the year!

This year has been up and down for us so far. Very strong start, then more or less dead for several weeks, then now slammed. Who knows what the rest of 2026 will bring – in any regard…
