Dont want to start a fight here but every time I hear someone compares flame to resolve in terms of new technologies implemented I always think how many people uses flame vs how many people uses Resolve and that translates on how much money company can spend on RnD for their products. I know Flame is not cheap, but don’t think its same profit as other tools like Adobe or Davinci Resolve.
Why not learning ComfyUI and do it there? At the end they are asking for AI (not necessarily within flame) and ComfyUI is the king for that.
i think ADSK went wait to cautios with their whole AI stuff,
i dont need to train LoRas in flame, i just need to get the same stuff offline is doing but in better thats why its 100x more expensive than resolve and premiere … but now its like…
Yep, it is shocking how far behind we are compared to what we pay. We have been paying a VERY high premium for 30 years to have the wow tools that no-one else had. We keep paying the premium but aren’t rewarded with anything that helps us to compete. I now have to spend my time learning other tools. Either catch-up with the Ai tools or bring the price down to Avid levels, like 600/yr instead of 600/month.
Might be nice to rebalance ADSK WTF threads and cool stuff you can do with Flame threads. Getting a bit lopsided.
And on that topic, if you watch the replay of the Fred episode of the 2027 features Logik Live Zoom call, there was a long explanation of what the team had to go through to get AI features into Flame. It’s helpful context.
And on the same wavelength, if you listen to this weekend’s Logik Live Zoom, there was an extensive and very good conversation between the team and one of the members who holds them to a high standard. Also helpful context.
AI is moving at a speed that is hard to keep up with at best of circumstances, and none of the big apps will be moving fast on this. Some have a head start on Flame because they jumped on it faster, but none will match what is out there in terms of tools. And it’s not a realistic expectation.
The only way you can use latest AI workflow is with hybrid pipelines.
is exactly what I mean. I want the BEST tools available, if some dude in his underwear can whip up a better “magicmask” in a software made for p*** (comfyUI) that people hand out for free - than all of AUTODESK there is something wrong isnt there?
where are the custom ADSK trained models that are the best of the best trained on the best data?
On the good news for Flame & AI: When you have multiple GPUs, apparently already and increasingly more so, the second GPU can be used for ML features, not just background renders. Don’t have specifics, but was mentioned in Logik Live.
As someone with a software background and understanding of the difference between maintaining and improving a 30 year code base and a dude in underwear coding something, I disagree with this. These are entirely different endeavors. And if ADSK were moving at that speed and with that ethos y’all would be bent out of shape over the inconsistencies, endless bugs, instability and everything else that comes with that.
Sure. Then let them do exactly that. After the third AE artists tells them they need a Flame artist for the rest, they will be back.
Clients which have no clue what it takes and talking big is not a new problem. It’s just more rampant in present times where everybody thinks they’re an expert, and that everything is free.
“I don’t care. Give me the AI feature now, or I will call my buddy who will vibe code me a Flame knockoff with the best AI features in history by next Friday, since you guys apparently can’t spell AI”
