I looked up Grafana as i liked the metrics you are capturing on your network speeds. That company looks like it does a lot more than just capture network speed! Impressive use of caching from the server, i had no idea it handles most of the load. and as a cache who cares if one drive fails, easy to swap it without losing anything. nice working example of a good network Alan
Thanks @ALan for sharing as much as you do. It always leaves me with some tasty food for thought.
Grafana is simply a way to display any and all metrics captured from something like telegram being put into a time-based database like InfluxDB. Search TIG stack and that’s pretty much it.
Anyone in the Mac world doing this sort of thing using 25gb or higher networking or even 10gig that comes on these new studio machines?
telegraf
For a cheap network upgrade on the mac: 25gbe Mellanox nic in a Sonnet Echo Express SEL Thunderbolt 3 enclosure on a macbook pro over SMB. The card was around $80, and the enclosure was $200 on ebay. I don’t think I had to install anything special on the mac to get it going.
@mybikeislost - firstly, my bike got stolen… shame, it was unusual and unique.
What was the cost of the network switch?
How many clients on the switch?
What is the performance to the centralized storage when all of the clients are asymmetrically reading and writing?
Yeah, fat fingers. My bad.
Grafana is the shit…
I added grafana and prometheus to my ubuntu, excellent! thank you very much guys, its the monitoring ive been needing lately! for drive temps and networking speed. love it.
very nice dashboard Randy! love this lol
thanks Alan Im trying/planning to work my way down that road,…
Looking for and working on finding the most off the shelf solution for a single user,…to reach the levels you demonstrated.
graphana? noobs! real sysadmins run htop/glances on 15 machines via a tiled desktop manager on 4x 42" monitors .
/s
nice!, …thats a lotto boxes for one
What 25gb switch are y’all using?
