A Legendary Flame Artist has passed

It is with deep sadness that I share that my best friend and mentor, Glen Bennett , passed away on June 16, at 63 years old.

He brought his background in watercolor painting into his compositing work, elevating it to an artistic level that few could match. He comped what some thought impossible. And was also one of the first people to use Autodesk Flame when it first came out.

Glen is and always will be a legend, an overall powerhouse of resilience and no stranger to the grueling hours of the VFX industry.

We all know this business can take a toll on oneself.
Take that break.
Go for a walk.
Decompress and ask for more help if needed.

This industry has lost too many skilled artists over the years to the demands of unreasonable deadlines.

Please take care of yourselves and your family first.

So sorry, Amanda. Thank you for sharing!:heart::heart:

Amanda, the whole Flame development team sends our deepest sympathies to you and Glenn’s family. We are so sorry for your loss and deeply saddened by Glenn’s passing. This is very sad news.

I was so shocked when I heard this, I’ve known Glenn since we were both Harry ops in the '80s in soho, he at SVC and me at MPC.
