Ai lens flare removal

Anyone had any luck getting rid of nasty lens flares on a tilting or panning shot using AI? Think big move with the lens flare passing over a lot of detail.

Without seeing the shot the only thing I can think of is doing clean up on one frame with Qwen Edit (really powerful) and use a depth pass for rebuilding the shot to keep original cam move.

I had some success with after effects

I tried using Omini V2V fast to remove a passing car and it worked pretty well. Feed your source video to it and tell it “remove passing car in the background” and boom. Although I ended up roto out the AI background and comp it back on the source. The AI video gave me almost identical camera movement and everything else except it’s in 24fps and some color difference.

Just did this example locally, did not even need a clean frame with qwen but your shot may be different.

I’m really curious how did you that ? Is it with comfyUi ?

Yep, ComfyUI. And this can also be done with WAN2GP in case you are low vram.
I found comfyui is a bit messy in terms of performance. WAN2GP runs way faster (2x faster) than comfyui on the same machine.

Could you share the workflow for this please? Also does it retain all the colour depth?

We handed it to an AE guy who said “gee, I don’t know” then put near perfect job in our inbox this morning.

Hey Ben. Actually the workflow is embedded on the mp4, if you download the file you’ll get the workflow.

Regarding your colour question, TBH, I haven’t tested that, would have to check.

I don’t see any metadata in the mp4?

I do not have any access to a licensed flame anymore. But I would like to help if i can.
