:Rotating_light: Flame Family 2026.2 Update is Now Available! 🚨

Hello Logik friends!

Flame Family 2026.2 Update has been released and is being rolled out to your Autodesk accounts.

Highlights include:

  • Machine Learning Models:

    • On macOS Sequoia 15.4 or later, when running on workstations equipped with Apple silicon:

      • The frame interpolation machine learning models run on the GPU and Apple’s Neural Engine (ANE) to offer better performance.
      • ML Upscale is available in the Resize & Crop node.
    • Use the AutoMatte machine learning model in the Selective object to quickly create mattes for a wide variety of defined objects.

    • Load any ONNX matte extraction model in the ML menu of the Selective object.

  • GMask Tracer:

    • Add a Selective object to a GMask Tracer scene.

    • Output the result of a Selective as a matte clip.

    • Navigate seamlessly between GMask Tracer and Action thanks to the former’s Result output socket.

  • Temporal Smoothing:

    • Smooth matte clips that exhibit temporal stability issues using a Selective object or the new Temporal Smoothing node.
  • Type:

    • Select favourited fonts in the Favourites tab.

    • Display fonts in the Select Font widget using the application’s font.

    • Modify the Layer Opacity channel from the user interface.

  • Batch, Batch FX, and Modular Keyer:

    • Create, modify, or sever connections to a node’s input sockets from the Explorer.

    • System-based Preferences are available for Batch and Batch FX, and for the Render and Write File nodes. Centralise these preferences in your facility using the sysconfig.cfg file.

    • Some Matchbox nodes are available from the All Nodes bins. Matchbox and Lightbox nodes can be added to a custom bin.

  • Media Panel:

    • Define the default number, name, and colour of the reels that are part of a new Batch or Reel Group and the default destinations of Render and Write file nodes in the Media Panel tab of the System Preferences.
  • Media Import:

    • Support for clips recorded with the ALEXA 35 Xtreme camera in ARRIRAW, Apple ProRes, and ARRICORE formats has been added.

    • Support for XF-AVC (MXF / MP4) clips from Canon EOS C50 7K Cinema Camera and EOS C400 has been added.

    • Blackmagic RAW has been updated to SDK version 5.0.

  • Export Snapshots from the Batch and Effects environments.

  • Flush the graphics memory from the Resource Manager.

  • The open clip version of a timeline segment or clip node can be set using the Python API. Attributes of a Clip node such as the Timing Offset and Media options have been added.

“Flush graphic memory” sounds like music to my ears.

Is there any plan to release a video about this new features? I can’t quite see the functionality of some of them before of install the update, like “modify connections from the Explorer’s Inputs tab”.

One note on the ‘flush graphics’ - it’s a very useful function. It’s worth noting that it releases graphic memory that Flame is holding onto for performance, but no longer needs. That is useful if you run multiple apps. But it also potentially slows things down that are no longer optimized. And it’s unlikely to fix graphic memory leaks, as most likely those are regions that are still locked but forgotten about.

So very useful, but best taken with the right grain of salt. Maybe think of this features as the classic disk fragmentation tools

We’ll see. Now, I have to restart flame more and more often as new versions come out. Since 2025 is tedious and annoying.

Makes sense. It will be interesting to get field notes on how this is helping or not.

@feganflamer can probably testify if he’s not busy

There will be videos coming to the Flame Learning Channel soon. We will also appear on Logik Live on November 9 to showcase what’s new.

‘Flush grapics’ has saved me a ton of time in client sessions. It’s really annoying when your moving at a speed the clients can keep up with, and then have to stop and restart flame.

That being said, I’m still restarting flame at least 4 times a day. Which is manageable.

Great ! Thank you.

I have issues with Automatte (not working here) on Mac Os Tahoe, “Human Body” works but not automatte.

Please contact the support team so they can have a look at this with you.

I’m seeing nothing also out of automate in Tahoe. 26.1

All the other models work.

Can someone confirm it’s working on a Mac with 26.1?

I havent had any issues with motion vector tracking

@FriendsFromAutodesk Bravo on 2026.2! I have an M3 MacBook Pro. On an HD clip in Batch, I’m running ML TW, ML Resize and an Automatte, and the performance is waaaaaaaaaaaay better than I expected to see with 3 ML tools in the same setup! :clap:t2::clap:t2::clap:t2:
