Just few thoughts ,… Flash was the original name right? so I hear…
With regards to how fast Flame can be driven, I think Flash is rather a more appropriate name.
I feel like the Flash (DC comics) sometimes when driving Flame flying threw those keyboard clicks,… anyway I don’t like the sound of Flash artist, Flame Artist sound better,…
Correct, however Quantel had a new version of Harry, called Flash Harry out at the time, hence the name change to Flame.
Personally, I prefer the name Flame, with all its connotations, Fire, smoke, Inferno, Flint, Combustion sparks, etc.
I think it’s way to late to consider renaming it.
I agree of course, but just saying how appropriate it was with regards to working speed ie in a flash your work is done, … Flash Harry sounds a bit purvy…
We have an odd fascination with these names. It also exists in the tech industry overall, where machines used to have creative host names. Most OS releases (Apple, HP, elsewhere) are named after locations in CA. HP named theirs after towns on I-80 on the way to Tahoe.
It becomes a bit weirder when the name of the software becomes a role descriptor for the artist.
Flame artist sounds great, but can be mistaken with the circus performer, which at times creates havoc now that so much relies on online search and automated analytics. Whereas the Nuke Artist might have more security problems with his resume.
Anyway, it’s all good fun, with some comical yet not always easy side-effects.
As medical ad warnings say: Do not take if you are allergic to it. (seems rather obvious, making it an even odder legal requirement to state).
Funny how names stick. I have a lot of friends in Animation and I still hear Adobe Animate colloquially referred to as “Flash” all the time despite the branding change many years ago.
