Fun with RTMP

Interesting! Thanks for that.

EDIT: Actually, it’s 18.04. I was getting it confused with another box. Still…it’s not 19.10.

I never tried with 18.04.

Heyo - I’ve had a decent result with this hacky setup. Granted, I was helped by some spares from workstations past.
Linux Flame, Kona HD-SDI desktop output
to
2014 iMac 10.14.6 / Kona-3G v15.0.1 drivers / Thunderbolt PCI box “adapted” for card to fit / Wirecast 14 ($599) / mac-local-rtmp-server

Desktop streaming option from the Flame system would be ace, particularly on the last couple of days when agencies want to step through frame by frame etc

Are you using the 1.6 apimage image Alan? My decoders are all 20.04 so I figured I’d bring one down to 19.10 and give h265 another go based on what you said above.

I do custom builds. Also, my poor experience with 20.04 might be unique to the decoder hardware.

Not sure about that… tried on two different boxes, both i7s which should be more than capable. Both had issues. It’s a slow day… I’ll give it a run.

Let me know how it works out.

Night and day man. A bit curious if the same is true for the encoders as well.

Not in my experience.

So 19.10 is the secret to good H265 decoding?

For me it felt considerably better on an i7 with 19.10… so yeah, a bit odd but I’ll take it.
