I just realized Wrestlemania will be happening in Vegas at the same time as all this. Don’t worry though guys, the whole affair is a shitshow, with a civil war going on after TKO boss Ari Emanuel (brother to Rahm, and inspiration for that Jeremy Piven character) insisted that Sports-guy Pat Macafee be inserted into the feud between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes. This is the latest in a long line of boring-guy decisions1 that appear to come from parent company TKO, going all the way back to Wrestlemania 40 when The Rock wanted to headline the main event and pushed Cody Rhodes to the side, causing such a fan uproar that they had to re-book the match ultimately leading to the best wrestling match ever. And I know what you’re thinking, “this was all a work”, but given that the Rock’s needy self-insertion has continued haphazardly happening SINCE then (The Rock made John Cena turn into a bad guy with a hand gesture indicating some kind of Fast and Furious 8-level compromising issue that the Rock had over Cena, and we had Cena being an asshole for a few months; the fans hated it and the Rock never showed up again to explain whatever it was that he had over Cena to cause him to turn heel for the first time in his career, and eventually Cena just went, “Well, I’m a good guy again!” and that was that). On the bright side, CM Punk, ever famous for his mouth, called Mcafee “MAGAfee”, which was great on a few levels.

1. “Boring-guy decisions” are a grab bag of value-increasing efforts made by owners of things they do not understand. The goal is always to broaden the appeal, be it for wrestling, video games, or diet soda. Some boring guy thinks, “I wish I could see more of my favorite podcaster on this show that I own!” and inserts them. These guys have aggressively dull taste. They put Jared Leto and the Rock in everything, they listen to billionare pocasters. They are the stagnant pond that culture seeks to escape.
Really appreciate you getting stiff on WWE’s new direction here Andy. Wife and I went to a Raw taping here in Detroit right after Hogan died, and the biggest pop of the night was the Netflix bumper to kick off the show. Second biggest pop was Rhea Ripley. No fault of hers, but not exactly the barnburner we paid for. We had a much better experience - experience of a lifetime to be exact - in Arena Mexico. Different presentation than what I grew up with but packed, legendary, iconic venue + audience went crazy for every bump.
Also, the grand-daddy-of-them-all going behind ESPN’s paywall after the first hour makes me want to tune in less. Highly recommend an Arena Mexico show if you’re a mark like me, we were sellin like Ricky Morton for a sold-out house.
On the other hand, truly wish I could be at NAB this year. Looking forward to all the content!
I think it is now safe to say that Bryan will be showcasing the improvements to Markers and Annotations from the 2027 release. It’s us (Autodesk) who didn’t let them tell it like it is before the release.
