Hey Logik friends,
I have some points that I’m complaining about in Autodesk Flame:
-
Auto-saves taking too much time and being completely useless in return. Going too far back when a crash occurs… All other programs solved this problem beautifully. When a crash occurs, you continue from where you left off.
-
When Batch is too full, or for example, when a track file comes from a 3D tracking program, if there are too many axis, that batch bloats severely and becomes prone to crashing at the slightest movement.
-
The program is very sluggish. It makes you wait a lot during startup and shutdown, and it doesn’t allow you to do anything during this process.
-
There are too many software issues. There are too many bugs. Even when adding a node with the simplest space+tab, it goes to a random place.
-
With the cache system, reading the file I imported without caching from the same drive is faster than with cache. Cache both slows things down and makes the file exclusive to Flame. I wish it would just take the file to the disk and continue reading it. It shouldn’t do any conversion or localization.

We have a complex workflow consisting of Nuke, After Effects, ComfyUI, Boris FX products, 3D software, and independent tools. Due to the reasons I wrote above, the slowest software in my workflow is Flame. Besides, the software that causes the most problems is Flame. I experienced database-related problems twice in the last year and contacted Autodesk to open a case. No help was provided.
I highly appreciate that every single member of this forum unites and puts in effort. I don’t have a previously created thread, but there will be those who know me from the DM inbox. I would like to ask you the following: How do you position Flame in your workflow nowadays? As a compositing tool? Or just as a show software while working with the client?
How do you solve your complicated problems? Forum support naturally cannot be denied, but that’s not what I’m talking about. Does the case help, or do you have an IT department in your company that understands and can solve these things?
I am using a Mac Studio M3 Ultra device, and there are also Windows devices with nvidia rtx graphics cards and a dgx spark device to do other jobs (Nuke, Comfy, 3d etc.). I didn’t make the mistake of loading everything onto the Mac Studio… What are your real thoughts on these matters, I’m curious.
Thank you.
D.
sorry for my bad england
