PSA: Neatvideo in nuke

neatvideo in nuke offsets all metadata including timecode

so super dangerous stuff, if you conform comps from nuke - do yourself a favour and check them against the plate if the tc has been slipped.

its a known issue on the neatvideo website and it seems to affect all nuke versions,

While we’re on the topic - I have an open bug with Foundry re: NeatVideo and 15.0. There are circumstances where NeatVideo can crash Nuke and you can’t even open the script as you’re stuck in a endless error dialog loop. Opportunity to loose work (we did a few hours).

It’s a regression with OCIO handling and latest version of Neat. If you have Neat and DasGrain in the same tree (obvious combo), there is a sequence of events (in our case opening script on another system), where Neat has an assertion failure that you can’t get out of. And since you can’t open the script to edit it, you can’t remove the offending nodes. Safe mode and all the other tricks don’t help. You could edit the script in vi though

I do have a custom Neat build that fixes that for now.

Definitely a bit of a corner case, but a nasty one if your number is up.

what version of Nuke @finnjaeger ? v15 or previous versions as well

i went back to v14.0 same issue everywhere.

dasgrain has a mode to copy metadata from plate instead of comp probably useful to click that…
