The Flame Launcher aka bringing back switchable user Profiles for everyone

just saying I had other software vendors in differnet field pull the same garbage, we had some Microsoft product (maybe onPrem exchange licensed to a user named “welcomedesk@company.com” , they they audited us years later asking for how many people are using this account as in how many persons is the welcome desk team , someone from legal then advised us to just use random names instead :joy:

But yea , if not enforced then its not enforced.

Yet.

For my part, I do indeed use the machine name (the machines have the names of painters, artists, or writers), like “courbet@masociete.com”, and from what many other owners and IT , tell me, they do the same.

The Autodesk account system is a blessing when we hire freelancers who work remotely, when our artists work from home (WFH), or simply when wer are in supervision on set.

Oh yes, I’m m very aware of Why they did it. Now with all the current layoffs at Autodesk they will think of more ways to generate income. Resolve is now going to charge for the next Studio version, we didn’t see that coming. ;), however they have give free version after free version for years now. Times a changing.

what? do you have more info?

Got folks hooked on the sauce. Now it’s time to collect…

What I’m saying free version will stay free, but people who bought the studio version way back when or bought Blackmagic equipment bundled with a studio license will have to purchase an upgrade this time. Grant Petty mentions this in the NAB demo , however it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, but there will be a price for all the AI goodies your getting now and it will come at a small price. Time to pay the piper, we’ve been getting a free meal for awhile, so it doesn’t suprise me, Especially on how much the software has
Matured so quickly.

I couldn’t care if they charged $300 every year. It is still a bargain, let alone going the past 10 years without having to pay for an upgrade.

Ok. I bought the license in version 19. I would be unlucky if it just starts to be paid now. I only use resolve to convert footage flame can’t read and as a media tool to consolidate footage. But in any case, it’s still cheap. But wtf . Thought I have been looking for more info and it still doesn’t seem clear what blackmagic’s will do.

Yes, we will have to wait for the the beta phase to be over and then we will have more info. Right now it’s not
totally clear.

BM has never advertised free upgrades for life, so its not a rugpull like other software vendors have done…

We dont have any clue grant petty just teased that the free lunch will have to be over at some point, lets see what model they choose to monetize resolve

I was thinking they want to keep resolve low cost and charge for their cloud services like they have, and maybe they will do ai cloud processing and charge for that, or whatever else. well see.

yet to be seen when and if they change their current model.

I personally would love to see a pro tier resolve that they charge flame/baselight prices, that would make then listen to the pros more… but probably not :stuck_out_tongue:
