Logik now has a proper home on GitHub for collaboration on tools built by Flame artists, for Flame artists: Python hooks and scripts, Matchbox shaders, OpenFX plugins, standalone apps and docs.
This is a space for developers to share and work together. The public facing place to download and get the latest tools is still https://logik-portal.com/
Start here: Logik.tv · GitHub
Every repo has a named maintainer, an MIT license (or another open-source license that allows commercial use), and a README that says which Flame versions and OS it’s been tested on.
Nobody pushes changes directly, including the owners. Every change is a reviewed pull request, so a tool downloaded from here is something you can trust in a facility.
The first repo is flame-sysconfig-setup, a macOS app that builds a shared sysconfig.cfg so every Flame workstation uses the same folders and config files. More are on the way through the submission process.
How to take part
-
Use a tool. Each README has install steps and the tested versions.
-
Test and report. Install something, try it on your Flame version and OS, and say what happened in an issue. That’s the single most useful thing most people can do, and it needs no code.
-
Ask or suggest. Q&A for help, Ideas for tools you’d like to exist.
-
Bring your tool. Built something, or building it, that you’d like hosted here and will maintain?Share a project. The community comments for a week, then an owner decides.
-
Hosted elsewhere? Logik Portal, Logik Matchbook and other well-known tools stay where they are. The org page links to them.
-
New to GitHub? The contributing guide is written for people who’ve never used it. You need a free GitHub account with two-factor login turned on; that’s it.
Everyone here follows the Code of Conduct. Reports go to conduct@logik.tv.
If you’ve never used GitHub:
You can still help. Install a tool, try it on your version of Flame, and report back. The contributing guide walks through everything: .github/CONTRIBUTING.md at main · flamelogik/.github · GitHub
Got a tool of your own to share?
There’s a form for that under Discussions → Share a Project.
