I think there’s a element to this that no one has mentioned which might clear a few things up. Flame saves each frame of media once (framestore parity aside). Every time that frame is used it is linked to. You can copy a 30 minute clip 10 times and not take up media storage space. You’re simply creating 10 new links to the media. You can give those clips new names, change the frame rate, and possibly even the pixel aspect ratio without creating new media. You don’t create new media until you’ve rendered or cached something. Saving desktops, libraries, batch groups, etc. is more of an organizational task for efficient workflow than it is a safety measure. The best safety measure is to either archive every night (a good solution for a single user) or set up a shared-network storage solution like @ALan, which requires a greater degree of system administration knowledge.
