What is everyone favorite AI roto

Just curious with more and more AI tools coming online curious what everyones favorite AI roto is? I use flame isolate and mocha a fair bit, but used sammy roto, runway . What about other models in comfy or silhoutte?

SammieRoto using VideoMama.

Sammie Roto heavy modified backend for Apple Silicon, using most of the time self modified realtime matting

This. Nothing else I’ve seen even comes close.

I just used Onyx AI and was impressed - hardly knew what I was doing but got some impressive results

How is it compared to Sammie?

I haven’t used Sammie enough to compare

just downloaded onyx its pretty impressive thus far , nice that its an openfx . So far the amount of inputs and customization or preferences far exceeds anything else Ive played with.

Update just did one shot and its definitely holds up against Sammie Roto, the neat thing that I like about it is that it also accepts text prompts and works well enough, I did jean jacket and roto’d that out for blue suppression so that is worth looking into for people who care.

We are all on an Onyx love in at the moment at Rascal.

onyx these days… couldnt install sammie roto(not working :slightly_frowning_face: )

have you found any helpful things about the fine tuning settings besides their own docs?

Rammie Soto

I tried with Onyx AI roto. A lot and better settings, options and integration sure. In a first look, masks seems even more accurrate than sammie, but I tend to get more temporal artifacts, even in statics parts of the object. Like a bad roto. Sammie/videomama gives a really good temporal consistency.

But maybe it’s just a matter of tweaking some settings. On my first approach, I couldn’t find anything that improved on the first result.

Haven’t needed to so far. I will say this, the layout looks much easier to get your head around in nuke. Having to switch to page three to reset is a bore.

Is anyone using Sammie + VideoMaMa on a Mac Studio?
I keep running out of memory, even with cropping & downscaling.

yes I use it pretty regularly and havent had that issue.

Yea so far after a few days , static stuff it doesnt excel at it does flicker, but then I just still frame it or use the temporal blending in Onyx. On stuff that moves it tends to get better results than flame isolate. So it has it place in the toolbox for now. I do really love the text input of it, clothing, men, woman, jacket, hand, all of those have been impressive to use. One drawback it does seem to be much slower but such is life.

FYI, I’m not sure which version of Sammie you tried installing, but the newest that I installed on Linux last week was a cinch and has worked great. Normally installs on Linux give me cramps, but this was easy.

ONYX is pretty impressive so far. Slow, but much more detailed and tight than Mocha which is my first go-to
