2027 graphics memory

Anyone else finding their graphics memory filling up a lot more on 2027 than previous versions?

no-one?

not yet, but my batches tend to be much smaller than feature people.

Only six people use 2027.

Everyone else is working for Alan in his secret Hollywood lair.

It has a monorail, shark pool and rocket launchers.

But only 2027 alpha and beta, no production…

This is true… we have skipped 2026, 2026.1 , 2026.2, 2027, 2027.1 due to ongoing issues and regression that make those versions of Flame NOT production ready. Still on 2025.2.7.

Not for us as of yet. We’re on 2027.0.1 on MacOS and it has been running fine

I think it may be related to the new isolate node, which I’m loving, but I suspect it’s this filling up the GPU, even when not touching it in a batch schematic

You’re on a Mac, correct? Not sure if the Mac also has the ‘free GPU memory’ button they added for Linux.

It’s conceivable that Isolate is loading models and keeping them cached. There would be a difference between a graphics memory leak, and just hanging on ot it in case it’s used again. If the Mac version has the same ‘free GPU memory’ button, does that clear it out? If so, it would be just cached data. If it doesn’t clear it, more likely a leak.

How much memory do you have on that box?

No Linux

Make sure to press the “Use map” button which will create a map once let you use it as an instance without filling your system. Refer to the manual on using it. Might save you some headache.

Well, I just wanted to confirm that you’re on Mac (as I recalled), since it wasn’t sure that button existed on Mac.

So I just checked and it does.

Go in the bottom right menu, open ‘Reource Manager’. In recent versions there is now a ‘Flush Graphics Memory’ button at the bottom of that window, which will flush any cached memory segments. That will reduce your used memory from Flame, if you’re concerned about that. But flushing those caches unnecessarily also will slow you down if that cached model were to be used again.

Thanks Sinan, I’ll check that out

I’m constantly having to flush, otherwise it just crashes

That sounds like something is wrong. Worth a support ticket to get looked at.

I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find any reference to “use map”

That option isn’t there for automatte
