263 flame artist world wide?

I’m not sure, but it sounded good. I’ll look it up sometime. It’s past my bedtime . . .

Surely with the collective of creative individuals on Logik, one of us can come up with an acronym for what we do that spells out something rude.

if you are a adsk stockholder, cant you ask for Flame numbers? they are a public company, rirght? i dont know how this works…

there is a lot of data which one could use to derive something…

Media and Entertainment accounts for 77million revenue in this quater . a quater is 3 months, so 25million/month -ish

what are we guessing? maybe its 5% of that is flame? so you know how many maya/arnold/3ds useres there are? lets say 5% of 25Million, so 1.25M for flame a single month is $610 so hat would make it somewhere around 2000 Users (different licenses, yearly, and there are problaby bulk deals when you have 100 licenses… idk)

Obviously super guesstimated, but I doubt it would be 20.000 users, that would make a bigger dent in the earning reports, i mean i havent found a single mention of flame in any of these that I looked at , zero .

But if its not counted as “media and entertainment” but as " other", which makes sense given its not part of the MandE package - then you look at 28million a quater, if we assume its all Flame (which it totally isnt) then it would be 15.000 users.

I am really just throwing public numbers around to gauge it ,h anyone holding big piles of adsk stock that can ask?

But honestly , big grain of guesstimation

Looking a younger generations, lately I am starting consider myself a Mid Level Impostor.

@milanesa - does that mean you have artificial intelligence?

Maybe that simulation theory is true… and I didnt get the latest version update.

The realization of being a mid-level impostor is what makes a great senior…

@BrittCiampa - does the fact that I keep having ‘senior moments’ relate to your logic?

THIS. My first thought was to get an accurate assessment of how many people use Flame, to ask the people who are selling the licenses.

I think Flame IS specifically M&E.

Somewhere in-between.

Revenue wise it most likely rolls up under M&E.

However anytime you have to select from survey or other dropdown in many webpages, Flame is not listed as option and you have to write it in under ‘other’.

Every time I talk to the ADSK researchers for interviews they are surprised by this.

I found it, eventually, you have to click on visual effects, twice, then voila!

I know of 2 major VFX studios in discussions about moving to Fusion from Nuke to save on software costs.

Why isn’t Flare in the equation?!! Probably because they don’t know it exists. There’s not even a product page for it any more.

And why isn’t flare available as a monthly sub?

Or even a quarterly?!!

thats completely nuts, i mean they will have to spend so much time in tooling fusion to work , but then if you have 500 nuke licenses thats a few million a year just in licensing software thats abandoned

Probably they’ll need to find a workaround to the lack of deeps… unless the don’t work in really complex big shots.

Just a note that I believe the VFX Studios I am talking about are in talks about it. I’m not suggesting it is definitely happening.

I’ve watched a couple of Nuke Artists trying Fusion videos recently and their impression is usually along the lines of (paraphrasing here) “Fusion is a lot more capable than I thought” and “If I spent a lot more time on it and got to know lot better then it could work” but then generally list a whole lot of reasons why they prefer Nuke, some justified, some not. In general they think they can achieve what they want faster and easier than in Nuke. One other complaint is the deep compositing toolset of Fusion lacking (I thought Fusion was capable of deep).

My generally thoughts on the above are, what would those same artists feel if they were to try Flare instead?!! Probably won’t happen as they won’t know it’s a thing and getting access to it is near impossible. Totally an untapped market.
