I recently had a surprising chatgpt experience.
I was looking at a shader on shadertoy, that I didn’t understand. I dropped the code into gpt4, and asked it to comment it for me, and lo and behold, it did so.
It wasn’t perfect - as a matter of fact, it out and out lied - confidently - about some stuff (which it politely apologized about when I pointed it out). Still, it was more than enough to give me the gist of what was happening, and point me to what the math techniques were called, for further research… which I did by asking gpt about that subject.
A very interesting experience indeed.
