We’re sharing office space with a rental company and rent their stuff constantly. Today they called me and asked if I wanted to see some cool tech.
This is a new device designed to automagically pull focus, for any camera/lens. It has IR for near range; believe it or not, stereoscopic lenses for midrange. It can track faces, people, and objects in a given depth range, 2D screen space, and pull focus. Currently generates a quasi-depth view.
And, yes, they are working on real-time matte/depth extraction workflow. I offered to be in their beta program and test post-production pipelines.
