You could look at FTrack Review as another alternative. We use it for review and it is fast and you can open that up for downloads.
I should add a note that we have only ever used it for smaller review files. I have no idea how a large master would go on it and there is limited storage on the plan.
Lucid Link and publish is the way.
LOGIK-PROJEKT could contend…
Can clients view easily with Lucid Link though like @GPM Is after?
I tested Frame IO speeds, this is what I sent to support:
• Uploading via the browser app, I got good speeds – around 3 gbps.
• Uploading via the transfer app I got <600 mbps.
• Downloading via the browser app, it doesn’t show the speeds, but the 24gb Quicktime file took 5 minutes 12 seconds to download, equaling 615 mbps download.
• Downloading the same 24 gb file via the transfer app, the speed fluctuated a lot, from 500mbps to around 2gbps. The total download time was 3 minutes 30 seconds. This comes out to download speed of 914 mbps.
Is all of this expected behavior? The uploads via the transfer app are very slow compared to the browser app uploads. The downloads are quite slow with both apps, given that I have a 5gb fiber connection.
it would be 2 different things, sounds like GPM is sending other artists stuff via digital pidgeon to work on I guess, for this - lucid + publish is like going from a set of walking sticks to driving a ferrari on the autobahn.
You can solve having downloadeable links and file previews straight from lucid with some IT creativity, I have made a web interface for lucid that works super well with shareable links and upload reqeuest links , it gets pulled straight from lucid but requires a in-between layer. and I can get close to 1Gbit/s web download in a webbrowser at least, but its more for like clients download small h264/prores files and artists.
This probably won’t work for you but for me, Dropbox and Dropbox Replay work well. My project folders on my server are synced with dropbox in the background (no clue about speed… fast enough for me, I’m on 1Gb fibre) and then I can either send a Replay link to my clients (they can do their draw on frame thing) or transfer some large files (akin to wetransfer but more reliable) or share the folder with freelancers/ cg artists or colorist for them to work of…
It sounds like you are looking for a Unicorn. File sharing and file presenting are kinda separate products with different needs.
You might take a look at https://klash.studio/
An alternative to FrameIo with interesting features.
