Hello,
while watching a movie on Blue ray, I noticed that the letterbox is sometimes there and sometimes not.
If I play the movie via Netflix this does not happen.
Does anyone have an idea why this could be?

ive seen multiple films with change in aspectratio throughout . The first I never noticed it was Dunkirk.
Sometimes disney or whatever will show a “imax” version of something with a different aspect ratio as well.
You will find even differences between many re-releases of films especially older ones like The Matrix and of course starwars have tens of different release versions for whatever reason, often its for “now we can scan the material at a higher quality” or whatever
Christopher Nolan does this a ton. If you see his movies in an IMAX theater all the IMAX shots are 1.43 while the rest are 1.85 or 2.39 or whatever, it looks like they did this somewhat on the Blu-Ray.
Netflix, lovers of the art that they are…
I find it interesting, thank you, at first I thought there was something wrong with my television
Interesting, I thought that everything that comes on any CD just gets a letterbox stuck on it.
