Using flame 2022. Cryptomatte maxes out at 10 things selected. Why?
Does anyone know if this fixed in newer versions so you can select more things?

Why are you using a 3 year old version of the software?
Oh Alan Alan Alan.
Is that a yes?
@johnt - post a low resolution version and i’ll test it for you.
I’m writing scripts at the moment.
Thanks @philm
Don’t worry about it. I’ll download the latest beta in the morning and test.
i am using Flame 2023 and after I have selected 10 objects, the Autodesk Cryptomatte node breaks @johnt
@philm I am using this test image
Thanks @PlaceYourBetts !!
I’m 90% sure this issue we also had in 2024.
There are other limitations of Flame’s implementation. If I recall it doesn’t support the wildcard either.
I only just saw the wildcard test images when I was looking for this bunny image.
It looks like a multi-layered exr but not sure what is going on. Never used it before
Wildcards can be used for text based selections in Nuke.
You can write things like
box.*
If you had all the sides of a box labeled like box.right, box.left, box.front, etc.
So instead of clicking all the shapes, you type selection, and use wildcards for entire groups.
For some complex CG text based selection can be better than clicking, as you may not now what shapes exist.
It’s a known bug. I believe it’s been fixed since a later 2024 release or in 2025.
@kyleobley i think you’re correct.
Still, I wish it would show the matte you’re making in overlay like Nuke. That would be more helpful than tapping F4 again.
I thought there was a pink overlay option
Here is an example of how the whole scene hierarchy can be stored in the manifest:
