DCV setup

Are you talking about teradici or DCV? My post is specifically about Teradici. CPU encoding is way more performant than GPU. It is. totally counter intuitive. CPU provides RGB 4:4:4 but I believe it is 8 bit. There is a possibility that DCV is 10bit but I haven’t confirmed it.

I’ve not done dual UHD with Teradici but it is fine with single 4K. We use Intel NUC generation 11 and later, i5 and above, running Ubuntu. I get them off eBay for like $250. If you wanted to be Mac based, the MacMini m4 is an amazing deal and was recently $480.

Wow thats interesting info that using cpu for both encode and decode is fine with such low end hardware - that makes selecting thinclients a lot easier.. parsec needs like nvidia gpus to deal with 4:4:4 .

DCV is also 8bit.

I have a pile of Lenovo P3x0 Tiny with Nvidia GPUs if you want.

inknow remeber why i cant do teradici.

It does not support RTX consumer GPUs , or is that “bypassed” when i encode on CPU?

aint buying quadros for nuke/houdini workstations :joy:

its like 1 flame with a rtx6000 blackwell the rest is 4090s … houdini/karma doesnt care

I may be interested in those (homelab) - how many do you have? how much do you want for them?

I heard that limitation might not exist anymore.

are the Nuke/Houdini workstations Windows or Linux?

Right now windows but i really want to delete windows from my network, windows makes me sad, every update they slam AI shit in your face, its buggy and nuke on windows suuucks

only good thing is we can use parsec which is GOAT .

so I want to switch them to linux hence me looking into DCV

I spoke with a friend who says Teradici definitely works on Windows agent with consumer cards.

Unknown about Linux agents with consumer cards.

officially not possible, idk would have to try.

There is a universe where you could downgrade to 2023 DCV. That was what I rode forever and experienced few issues once setup.

I had Teradicy running on Windows with a rtx 3090 like three years ago.
