Flame 2025

To make the user files version agnostic we had to make modifications to their structure and content. Unfortunately, that means we had to break the compatibility between 2024.2 (and any other previous versions) and 2025. Therefore, it is not possible to migrate your shortcuts. You will have to recreate them manually. The good news (I hope) is that you won’t have to go through this process anymore once you have re-created them in the 2025 version as your shortcuts will be preserved in every new version starting with 2025.

Sorry. This is something I should have mentioned before, but forgot to do so.

As for the Export / Import functions in the Setup application, they only work for the files associated to the OS login displayed at the bottom of the user tab, so they only work for Preferences, Shortcuts, and Presets in 2025. Not for the previous releases.

Yikes. I guess I’ll take screenshots of my 50 custom keys and input each manually. I guess this means that for all the conflicts with default keys I need to zero those out as well?

Blimey i think ill stick with 2024 for now as the thought of going through all those taken for granted hotkeys and re doing them fills me with dread. Hopefully someone far more clever than myself might come up with a migration tool.
Thank you Fred for letting me know.

Yeah I was hoping to hear that someone might be working on a migration tool — but I imagine if it were that easy, ADSK would’ve made that an automatic feature.

@fredwarren, does this mean we also have to manually enter the rest of all our prefs, or just hotkeys?

Really… you are going to stick with old software because you don’t want to spend 5 minutes, one time, to enter in some hotkeys that will then persist until the demise of the software?

Yes of course i will eventually take the time to re enter all my hot keys again it’s just not top of my agenda right now for the gain.

A job for a rainy day in the not to distant future no doubt, just not today.

I personally celebrate and appreciate the new hotkey functionality. It will certainly make my life easier and the few minutes it takes me to add my hotkeys this one time will be worth it.

It is ironic that any gripes with transitioning to the new hotkey system actually justify why it has been introduced

Also it should be said that, while I havn’t tried R19 yet, the various machine learning tools in Resolve 18 are really kind of flaky. The number of times Magic Mask especially has bitten me in the ass is enough that I really think for a minute before I pull it out. Face Refinement also is pretty magical until it isn’t, and then you’re pretty stuck.

So, same as the Flame ML tools then. It’s all fun and games til your perfect face key starts flickering in and out of existence!

Exactly. There is no easy button at the end.

I gave up on custom keys in the late 90’s, might revisit now its been updated,…

Hot Keys now all changed. Wasn’t so bad after all. Onwards and upwards. :+1:

But just once, for old time’s sake.

Hi everyone,
My company has just installed 2025.

I can manually copy my bookmarks

I’d like to know if any one can advise me on the following

  1. I use smoke shortcuts and the other flame artist uses flame shortcuts, previously I had created my own user which is not readily possible now. So how do I enable smoke shortcuts for myself and flame shortcuts for the other user.

  2. I had adjusted the tablet margins for myself, if I adjust it now will it be adjusted for all users?

  3. How do I get everything from the login portal that I installed in 2024?

  4. How do I install matchbox shaders from login matchbook?

Thanks for your advise in advance
Have a great rest of the day

Cheers

Hi everyone,
Under preferences/user/user tokens
What are they for?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

If you just want to switch between Flame and Smoke hotkeys you can by switching the pref in the keyboard editor

The new way of having multiple users on the same machine is to create a new user at the OS level. Each user will have their own set of preferences.

Thanks @johnag

I’ll try changing the hotkeys through the hotkeys editor.

You mentioned multiple users need to be added at the OS level.
That would require IT and administrative access right?
Could you guide me on that so that I could share it with IT?

Once that’s done, would another user show up in
preferences/user/user tokens? Would you need to switch users from there?

But how does that work if users modify their hotkeys?

You still can make individual “users”, but you’ll have to load them from the Flame Setup tool before launching.
