Does this mean I can now store my project file separate from the cache so I can just load the project on a flame and relink (easily) the footage. Without having to archive. Like in resolve?
from a data location storage standpoint, yes. But flame always requires non-ephemeral cache, so effectively, no.
I’m happy to say yes, but I work differently to you, so YMMV.
so yes and no
Yes, haha
Hello Jon!
Welcome to Flame 2026!
In previous releases of Flame, the project data and the media cache were already in different locations (i.e. projects were in /opt/Autodesk/project and media cache was at the location you had defined in the Volume section of the Project Management window).
With Flame 2026, you can now customize these various locations and no have the ability to have a project based media cache location, which is quite useful and easier to manage than the volume concept which was projects agnostics.
These changes do not remove the need to archive when you want to move a project to another Flame workstation but the new foundation should allow us to move easier project management in the future.
Give Flame 2026 a try and let us know how things are going.
thanks for replying. so I can’t just copy the cache to a new flame and relink? and there isn’t a save project thing going on?
