🚨 Flame Family 2027 is Now Available! 🚨

Hello Logik friends!

Flame Family 2027 has been released and is being rolled out to your Autodesk accounts. As usual, it may take a few more hours (and maybe even days) before the builds appear in your account since they are not being rolled out to everyone in one go.

Highlights include:

  • The frame-based metadata of imported clips is now preserved and can be written to the OpenEXR file header of exported file sequences and published content. It can also be edited in different places, including the new Metadata node/timeline fx.

  • Burn can be installed on macOS.

  • Two machine learning models can be used to generate Depth from an image. The depth can be used to create a matte in the Selective object or standalone ML Depth nodes.

  • Annotations can be added in the form of strokes, rectangles, circles, lines, arrows, or text to clips in the Player or in a Viewport.

  • Markers can be added to nodes in Batch and on timeline segments in the Effects environment. Markers can also be managed from more areas as the markers list is now accessible in the Explorer.

  • Improvements have been made to the Atomize object in Action.

  • OpenTimelineIO files can be imported to be conformed.

  • Custom tokens can be created. The output of a token returning a string can be sliced to isolate a part of it.

  • The flame_backup command-line tool can be used to make the backup process more efficient.

  • Autodesk Assistant, an AI-powered assistant, can understand your questions and provide helpful responses.

  • The ARRIRAW, Blackmagic RAW, R3D, Sony RAW, and OpenEXR SDKs have been updated.

Enjoy!

Awesome release.

Oh yeah!

See you soon in lovely Las Vegas for NAB 2026!

I will be showing Flame 2027 at HP (N2651) and @LouisM will be at DELL (N2629).

I could not see anything on first glance - has anything been done to the project structures/ project server / NFS stuff ? like are we getting closer to habing the whole project in the postgres db or is this the same structure etc as 2026?

Just starting new project so I have to wait a bit before installing 2027

this rules, thank you!

Installing now.

Uninstalling now. :frowning:

Most of my joy in this forum is being a human AI Assistant. Without that I’m just posting run-on sentences about wrestling.

(I am sincerely excited about Atomize.)

Let us know what you think about it and what else is missing!

First document I always read is the Known Issues list. Saves so many headaches down the line.

For Project Management and database, Flame 2027 is quite similar to Flame 2026.x.

It’s the net yet known issues that are the worst!

I have visions of Harry Enfield popping up saying: “you don’t want to do it like that!”

all installed and updated./ but doesnt work with the new Blackmagic desktop video. no video.

Several drama free installations this morning.

OS upgrades are clean.

Fresh OS installs are clean.

Virtual machine templates are cooking.

Burn is being installed right now.

No drama.

Great upgrade.

Well worth it.

Lots for people to dig into.

Once again, bravo flame team.

You make it easy.

went back to 15.1 and video works. 16 doesnt. black magic desktop video that is

Please stick with Desktop Video 15.31 as documented with Flame 2027 ( Help ). Desktop Video 16 has been released last week and we are not done validating the changes.

ok, so another year with flame 2025 then :frowning:

@fredwarren Can this token slicing be done on pattern browsing?

I noticed flame doesn’t always launch first time since 2027. I have to force quite it and then second time it opens.

I’m very curious about the changes to Atomize, but I don’t see a mention in the release notes?

I’m hoping it means atoms have sizes related to camera position and not all the same size regardless of z-position..
