Are any of you episodic friends anticipating any impact from this?
I havenât worked episodic in over a year but I would be worried if I were. I believe most episodic editors are IATSE and editorial and VFX work hand in hand. Even if that werenât the case, there usually isnât a huge gap between production and post so if the strike goes on for more than a few weeks, youâll probably see people let go.
Another thing is that premium cable channels are supposed to be exempt from the strike (different contract) but a friend of mine who works in production on an HBO show told me that people on his show wonât cross a picket line to get to their stage - so there are probably people working on shows that wonât technically be on strike but will effectively be not working.
Strike averted.
