All in the title, I tried many tricks just to copy a text of 120 words/800 characters from a mac note window, or any other app on Mac 15.6 using Flame 2026.0.1 then 2026.0.2, it doesn’t work, while it works anywhere else on Flame, like Note Node, Node Name…etc.
The Behavior is really unpredictable, sometimes it works with small parts like 4-6 words, sometimes it doesn’t at all, I thought that the layer width has an effect but couldn’t debug it
Since there is no load text file in the new node, you have to re type in manually
I’m on Linux and have yet to experience anything like this. I’ve copied and pasted from email and other web based docs as well as the linux office apps.
EDIT: I did a quick test with a very large c/p. It took a long time for the paste to work (10 seconds or so) , but it did.
I don’t have any trouble copy/pasting on mac. I don’t typically do lots of words / paragraphs though. Two ideas:
To make sure you are in edit mode and not move mode: create a type layer, type a few characters in it, then paste your big chunk. If it works, go back and delete those first few characters.
Maybe break up the paste into a few smaller bits and do a couple copy/paste actions.
Thank you all for your comments, I tried all the recommended, I also deleted other languages in case I am switch automatically when using Flame, nothing worked.
My OCD was not swallowing this, so I made some trials and I started to understand, but not completely, here are some tests, it would be nice if someone try those on their Flame:
I want to copy this: EXT. VILLAGE – EVENING –> this doesn’t work
but if I copy : EXT. VILLAGE test EVENING —> the paste works
but: “EXT. VILLAGE test EVENING” —> won’t work
while: (EXT. VILLAGE test EVENING) —→ works
I am using Flame 2026.0.2 and Discreet as the font
The problem is that the characters – and “ ” are not supported in the discreet font. After the paste, select all characters in the layer and change the font to a more generic one like Arial and these characters will appear.
This is a common with fonts: they do not support each characters. For example, not every font will be able to display arabic or japanase characters.
In the case of the quotes, this is because you are using the smart quote characters rather than the quote ones. We did add support for Smart Quotes in the Subtitle tool, but not in Type. You can upvote this Improvement request on Flame Feedback: FI-03521 - Type: Add the Display Smart Quotes option
