How long have we waited for the new type tool to come along and when it does its lost some of the best features of the text tool?
The loss of styles is huge.. If you have a project with several font styles having a shortcut to quickly change the style was invaluable.. Ctrl F1 F2 etc.. In type theres the favourites function but its nowhere near as quick, and in our facility we have all out fonts on a central server so we cant even use it as they cant be selected as favourites. or am i missing something?
Also with the old text tool you could quickly enter the text tool and straight away paste text.. again invaluable for doing long credit documents. Now you have to select the box first before pasting in the text. These small things make a big difference. Again anyone know what im missing there?
I’d love someone to tell me what I’m doing wrong.. but until then its back to text
Fonts in the Shared tab of the Select Font widget can be set as Favourites and, as of 2026.2 Update, appear in the Favourites tab.
I’m not sure I follow what is that much different here. Before, you had to click in the viewport to create a layer and then you could paste. Now you need to double-click in the viewport…
Sorry I must be misunderstanding something. How do i add a font to the favourites when its source is from the file browser.? Our fonts aren’t local we browse to them, and then the favourites option isnt available. Running 2026.2.1
As for the selection process, sorry I wasnt clear. This is more relating to modifying credits. Ie on the next episode of a show, copying / altering the many many pages of credits. This used to be an almost insant process but now requires several more button presses per text box,
What I understand is that you are opening the Select Font widget and clicking on the Open File Browser at the bottom left of the widget to open the file browser. From there, you are navigating to a path where your fonts are. What you should do is set that path for the font entry of the sysconfig.cfg file. After you you restart the application, the content of that path will be displayed in the “Shared” tab of the Select Font widget and this is where you will be able to set a font as a favorite.
