Seeing as how AD own the code to the now defunct XSI, how about porting ICE to Flame?
I realise it’s pretty old now, but so is the current particle system.
Companies make software dead for a reason.
I’m guessing ICE is way too old but bifrost is still being built upon and I believe is fluent in USD
We have not really looked at ICE, but we are indeed monitoring Bifrost. It is one option we are keeping an eye on.
I always thought the Combustion particle system was an excellent tool. Used to jump across to it just to do particles as it was quick and looked good.
I’d love to be able to import VDBs from software like Embergen too but haven’t put in a feature request for that as, although it would be amazing, there are other areas I’d like to see improved first.
BiFrost I vaguely remember seeing a demo for many years ago but for some reason remembered it as being an environment tool of some sort. Will look into it some more now out of curiosity
You can neither confirm nor deny that you’re working on USD implementation for Flame. That’s what I understand from this comment.
It is hard to answer this. We are allowed to talk about what we are working on, but sometimes even that can be misleading. “Working on” can mean that we have looked at possible design for the implementation, but have not started the implementation itself. It could mean that we are currently implementing something, but will release it in 4 years, if ever. It could also be that a feature will be in the next release. So yes, we can say it, but it doesn’t really help.
On the other hand, what we are not allowed to do is to put a release date on something.
I don’t know which emoji goes with this answer but a combination of ![]()
![]()
will do.
I thought it was donald duck
Rumsfeld is a piece of shit that deserves no warmth from the universe, but that specific quote is good and something I think about regularly.
There are things you know you know. (“I am forty seven”)
There are things you know you don’t know. (“I cannot do surgery on people.”)
And there are things that you don’t know that you don’t know. (“I should make a podcast”,)
