New update: Flame now supports Apple M1! šŸŽ‰

I am praying that the Blackmagic Ultrastudio4k works with the StudioUltra Mac as we have one on order and I am hoping that a Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 4 cable does the job. We should find out in a week or two.

Cheers

I’m sure it works. We run the BM cards on our hackingtoch machines. There is ways to replace some .kext files to get it running if there is trouble with the later osx interactions. And yes, TB2 is more than plenty for the card so should not be problem to run it via a TB3 2 TB2 cable.

Wow. Bob Zelin, that’s a name I haven’t heard in awhile! He’s the real deal.

I did not get bmd utrastudio tb2 to work with M1 without the kext fix. So I got the utrastudio 3g with tb3. That works.
So happy with my MBP M1Max!

Ever see Mistika demoed? Kinda like what your describing.

@Malte Can you share the details of the kext fix as my Mac Studio will arrive soon and I have a Ultrastudio TB2 also.

Is there a way to set it up so I can see the thread of emails?
It’s really frustrating to see a ā€œme tooā€ and not know what in Hell
it’s referring to.
(like an ā€œinclude thread’s previous emailsā€ setting )

Run this in terminal

admin$ sudo kextutil /Library/Extensions/BlackmagicIO.kext

I had to run it every time restarting computer.

Here is a longer explanation

There are plenty of legitimate reason to dislike Apple

A collective concern? Apple is a trillion dollar company whose negative business practices shape the landscape of technology worldwide. Often to the detriment of consumers and not only those who purchase and use Apple products. A very obvious example is with right-to-repair but there are countless other examples.

Apple hate is the never-out-of-fashion discussion of user experience vs accessibility. Or, simply put, the predicament between truth and simplicity. Apple is all about simplicity and user experience. If you want truth in IT you have to go the Linux route. Been there, done it. Won’t come back. Need simplicity. I’m all about creating pictures, not about IT. I know there are many of us who entered the magic of imagery from the technical side, which is totally fine. Others like me come from cinematography and writing. Also fine. But for these IT dyslectics Apple is the much better option as a platform.

That doesn’t mean Apple is all white, not at all. I totally agree that the consumer should have a bigger say. But that’s politics and they are bad in many, many aspect when it comes to the tech sector (not meant as a whataboutism). That’s why Logik closed down the FB forum.

A message from the road.

Actually we moved away from FB primarily because of engagement and traffic. Engagement and traffic on the FB group were plummeting. At the same time they were growing here. Regardless of what one may think about FB it made much more sense for the community to consolidate here. The numbers don’t lie…it’s been great! :fire::fire:

I still cant make my Ultrastudio TB2 work on my new Mac Studio

@Malte

Thanks for your rely. When I run this command I get

Can’t stat /Library/Extensions/BlackmagicIO.kext - No such file or directory.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver. 12.2.3

Silly update:

Macbook Neo
Setup 1: estimated 53 minutes. I did not time it
Setup 2: estimated 35 minutes. I did not time it
Setup 3: 9 minutes, 43 seconds
Setup 4: 5 minutes, 56 seconds
Setup 5: 5 minutes, 10 seconds
Setup 6: 8 minutes, 33 seconds

I don’t recommend running flame on a Macbook Neo, but it’s awesome that you can.

Hi Andy, have you tested it on the m5 max?

If it works on the Neo, maybe it works on my phone?

The Neo is a phone.
