Project or batch size setting limitations

Trying to set up a large project 20156x11338. Flame project, batch, color source, will not allow anything wider than 16384. Any suggestions?

You can work at that size, but previewing and playing would be cumbersome and you would need to export in two pieces and mate them in AfterEffects(?) or Premier, or other such apps. You may need to import in pieces also if any elements are larger than 16K. I think there is a trick in which you can create a 20K object and import a 20K frame as a texture.

I will give that a try. Can not create anything at the 20K in flame

The texture trick:
Create a frame in photoshop that is 22000x12000
In action, create a bilinear. Under Surface>Extrapolation, toggle crop on.
set the bilinear vertices to +/-11000 x +/-6000, creating a 22000x12000 plane.
Copy to UV points
Add Diffuse Map
Select Read FIle and add your photoshop file.

Note that you can’t import the file or cache it. You can only read it through the Read File menu of the diffuse map. Also note that there is a size limit to this as well, but I don’t remember what it was.

Hey @ytf, I think last time I did this, I actually didn’t change the vert position at all—you can just set it to perspective/bilinear and use the extend controls to reveal the rest of the image once you load the texture to the diffuse.

Just a little quicker… I’ll double check when I’m in front of the box to make sure I’m not conflating

Or work in Nuke:

The maximum image size the Nuke Viewer can display is 2^32 = 4,294,967,296 pixels. This is the same as 64k x 64k, 128k x 32k, 256k x 16k, or 512k x 8k.

With images that big, you want to have a viewer to uses a ROI.

Couldn’t find what Silhouette’s limit is.

Fusion may be 32Kx32K, but that was an older reference. May have changed.

Honestly, I don’t remember if I actually used this in a paying job. I worked out the basics for a bid and test. I even spent an evening trying every conceivable resolution until I found the limit. I think the original trick was to import a geometry plane and scale it up. Using a bilinear as an object simplified the process.

It sort of works, but this method does not seem to be mathematically accurate.
