Projection Mapping from a 2D still

Happy Friday.
I have a still of Time Square and i want to put a little creep in on it. In the past i’d build some geo in C4d bring into flame and project on it. Before i embark on such a journey does anyone know of a bit of software or a technique in Flame to make this any less painless? TIA as always.

Hey @Marcus_M

If you’re on the latest greatest version, try creating a depth map with the Inference node, using DepthAnythingv2. You can then displace and add a camera move in Action.

I haven’t had to do this in a long time and I’m not in front of my flame, but you wanna just use camera displacement (not the default displace) on the displacement map settings, right? So that when on your original camera position nothing is distorted but when the move starts you get that feeling of a little parallax?

That would be the premise, yes.

This is a super cool work around and has totally ticked the box. Great knowledge to you both. Thanks M

I used that they other day on a job.

It helps if you switch the viewer to left/top/front view to visualize the displacement. Also, bring a light in or otherwise turn on the shader mode, and you will get a more pronounced effect.

(@sinan also got me onto it back when I needed it)
