I’m sure I won’t be alone in wishing Alan an amazing adventure and safe return for his ascent of Mount Everest beginning on 2026-04-10…
See you when you get back brother.
First round’s on me.

Thank you.
I have the honor of joining Expedition Team 3 from Climbing the Seven Summits, to accompany them on the trek to Everest Base Camp. I will not be summiting Everst, but getting to basecamp is a challenge itself, and not guaranteed. I do hope to be able to summit the peak of Kala Patthar which is at 18,500 ft, and offers spectacular views of the Everest at sunrise.
We should start the trek on April 14 from Lukla. We should reach Everest Base Camp on April 24. I’ll be spending 2 nights at EBC staring at the stars in wonder.
Once I start the trek, you can follow live satellite tracking at:
Jesse knows how to get a hold of me via satellite should the need arise.
wishing you the best @ALan - curious why you are not attempting the summit of Everest? (I’m way too much of chicken to ever try it).
To summit Everest takes about 2 months expedition (repeated rotation up and down the higher camps for acclimatization) and I’d need to train for at least a year. Maybe when I retire.
So next year? Think our ai overlords will let you leave the work camp?
Godspeed, Alan! Be on the lookout for any poorly composited clouds while you are there!! ![]()

good luck Alan. I did this way back in 2004. I remember the flight in to Lukla was um, interesting!
Best of luck!! Man that sounds truly awesome.
Enjoy mate! I did the Annapurna Circuit a while back, was absolutely incredible.
I once used the stairs instead of the elevator at The Mill New York.
