Using an alpha channel in Action as a gobo?

apologies if this is simple - i cannot ever seem to figure out if its possible…

I have a shot of a product with little light panels, which i am piping into Action on two inputs. One is the complete shot, and one is the same shot but with the cg matte pass of just the light panels.

I want to use the lights within action to add light and ray effects as if emanating from the light panels, but i have not got a clue how to do this.

Is there a way to use the matte info within action, to create cutouts for the lights to shine through?

I did this a while ago but it is still applicable today in Flame.
