You've Been Burn'd Ep33: New Folder select for rename

Hola Alan,

I’m sure this plagues a lot of people and I’m happy to help shed a little more light on it since I’ve done some digging on this one.

When you say that it “doesn’t work” in the Files tab but “does work” in the Archive tab, what is really happening is that when you’re in the Files tab you have the folder layout set to “Hierarchy” (which is where auto-rename does not take place) and the Archives tab can only be set to “Single Level” regardless of what it’s set to.

A quick fix I’ve enjoyed is in the Files tab when you want to create a new folder AND rename that folder, just swap over to Single Level mode for your folder creation and then you’ll be able to rename it when you create it. But at this point you’ll have to decide if it’s more annoying to switch over to Single Level or more annoying to right click and rename.

I’m with you though that an auto-rename when creating new folders in Hierarchy mode is a nice little quality of life improvement that I think we could all use.

@Jeff You are right. Solid find. I’ll update my case with Autodesk.
