I highly highly highly recommend using Ubuntu thin client. Cheaper, easier to manage, and the code is more mature. You can get N150 mini-pcs for about $300, and I’ll be testing an even smaller and cheaper ARM based solution shortly.
I dont disagree with you. its the shape of my business that prevents that.
I have 7-13 Flame artists from across the country/North America, some using my Flames remotely, sometimes I need to scale beyond that to BYOF, and sometimes must onboard them to start within hours, same day. And it’s literally just me on the tech side of things. And I travel for shoots. So hardware solutions just sound like the worst to me.
I would love a more perfect world for me that operationally would support such an endeavor.
also check out what kyber is doing - they are working hard on a new proper replacement of terraguci.
they have a bunch of stuff allready out, i tried the mac to linux thing and it was brilliant, its better than moonlight/sunshine in every way shape or form, they are going to do proper usb passtrhough
the best part is - this is the VLC people doing it , so you can integrate it into your own stuff I guess and build on top, or just pay them for support and business stuff!
I experimented with it and i am happy if everyone steals my code and continues , i tried it only like for 5 minutes and it was Insane in terms of responsivness
here is another one
Aight.
I’ve got some goodies coming at ya @ALan .
Copy and paste.
Mac OS 26.
Fixed a Quit bug.
Something else Astra wanted.
Rebasing on your latest.
Great… thanks… We should make a better way to communicate and keep in sync. I’ve been fixing a bunch of macOS Host/Client stuff on my end too.
Reply using git issues and responses. PR’s and merges. There are mechanisms in place. Single source of archeological artifacts.
agreed. The repo has Issue, Wiki and Discussions enabled. Let’s move this topic over there.
yup. agreed.
I have forked to a new Teraguchi. I will need a buncha UI / extra features that are custom/blah/blah, but, will contribute upstream on anything that is helpful.
Chit in Gat. Wait..reverse that.
Batshit. This quality and speed is unmatched. Client running on Mac OS 15.7.4, full keyboard, mouse, modifiers, audio…
Thank you. You’re Welcome, to fork and make Pull Requests too.
I also have a connection broken type thing, more of a “relay” and also Wake On LAN working, but those components are currently private because they expose our internal VPN security workflow, and honestly I just don’t want scrutiny in those regards. It is just a vector for some Studio Security Auditor to bitch and moan about nonsense.
I’ve only tried macOS Wacom with Pixelmator and Photoshop, from Ubuntu Client. No idea if it works with Flame On Undies. One thing to keep in mind, at least with the afore-mentioned apps, is that the Wacom driver doesn’t need to be installed on the Host. No idea if it needs to be installed on macOS Client.
I’m only using the client against Linux. 9.5 host working no issue at this point. Currently working through multi-monitor and HI-Dpi support. Then a USB driver. I’ll do a PR shortly.
I’ve not tried multi-monitor with macOS client. Linux ↔ Linux multi-monitor works well.
macOS Client ↔ Host should be retina friendly with release .120 and above. That should now be a release on GH.
I’ve not tested macOS Client Wacom to RL 9.X, but Linux ↔ Linux Wacom works great.
Everyone who is interested in using PLANK, at least my version of it, get the latest releases from here:
It should also be the place to report Issues, have Discussions, and make Pull Requests.
I’m interested in what those would be?
This is awesome, thanks Alan! Updating a few of our Macs and ordered some N150’s so I can test and possibly contribute.
Which model?
