“We remain committed…”
Special…

Almost as good as the platitude, “I’d like to apologize…”

Nearly as useful as
“A whole civilization will die tonight…”

are they really killing the product? Should we go back to 2 tin cans with a piece of string?

But that they’re rotating back to RGS… I’m fucking dying

Wait a minute…. You are telling me they are killing Teradici and going back to RGS?

I’ve not received this notice, and I see it nowhere else.

yes .

HP is discontinuing teradici and they are going back to printer ink subscriptions now

basically

Linux remote desktop is like lol now ??

What in the total fuck.

I think they realized once they bought it, that it was a technical dead end. No true improvement could be made, and we see that over the past 5 years, barely even any increment additions.

But fuck, on Linux that basically just leaves DCV which sucks, and then on the Mac side, a bunch of convoluted other solutions.

Even though I always thought of Teradici as disappointing in terms of performance, it did just kind of work.

I just received the notice from Cinesys today. They’ve been trying to resell me a license for months and we’re unable to obtain it from HP told him longer gonna be able to sell it and then more information was coming soon. This notice was forwarded to me by my rep today. He said this must be why

Right?!?! You literally can’t make up shit this absurd.

Have they announced the new version of RGS yet? Maybe at NAB?

For me, it’s not so funny because HP anywhere just worked. It may have been challenging at times to get set up but once it was set up, it worked reliably. I could remote into any of my Linux boxes or my Mac boxes from any other machine Windows, Lennox, and Mac no problem.

Unfortunately, in the past, RGS only worked from HP boxes to HP boxes. Hopefully if they bring it back around, you can have clients on different platforms remote into Linux like HP anywhere does

HP Z Central Update 26.02.0 was pushed only a few days ago

https://h30670.www3.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=ZCRB-LR

30.10.2024 HP Z Central Update 22.1.2
21.02.2026 HP Z Central Update 26.02.0
02.04.206 HP Z Central Update 26.02.0

I did ask my rep about it and they haven’t heard of any replacement product at this time

that was never true, we ran HPZ and RGS before that without having any HP gear . easy peasy

the scheme was you got a free license with a HP machine for a bit. you just had to pay for it outside of having a HP machine as a sender (receiver was always free)

Looks like it’s back to the office for everyone.
The PPE may take a little longer to pass through the Straits of Hormuz.
Awesome.
Well done voters.

When we used RGS, prior to HPAnywhere a NVidia card was required and Mac doesn’t support that, so did they change that at some point?

RGS is only 4:4:4 when used with HP3 codec which only compresses spatial. Its implementation of H.264 is 4:2:0. Teradici used a 4:4:4 version of H.264.

So basically you need to 10x your datarate using HP3 to get 4:4:4 with RGS.
