I do most work in Rec 709. It’s not a colour space issue, it’s a renderer issue.
Here’s my take on the optics node, as a matchbox.
More or less does the same thing as the OG node, but runs a bit faster, has a few more controls, and an output matte.

Will spend a little free time figuring out what to not bother adjusting etc.
BUT I really do think it needs an overhaul of the controls along with the ability to not defocus the plate at all if it’s sitting on the focus plane.

Try pre-blurring the matte channel, and turning down/off the noises, makes a nice glow effect. I might add that pre-blur to the shader when I get a moment.
