I am trying to archive some projects for the first time onto an external hard drive however the option for “Use Archived Path” is not appearing, only “Convert to Local Path”. I am trying to save on file size and I believe this will reduce the size down from ~250gb that it is now even without Source Media Cache.
After some troubleshooting, I believe that Flame Assist has full disk access but I am unsure what else to try.
If anyone knows where I’m going wrong or how to fix this issue then some help would be greatly appreciated.
If I’m understanding your workflow, that’s how archives are: any media in your project, Batch media, Batch renders, those Batch renders in your timeline, etc… is forced to archive as unique media. Basically everything outside of “include source media”. And since they’re converted in archive to uncompressed, your archive gets big really really fast.
“Use archived path” and “convert to local path” are only for, and behave different, on ingest of an archive.
Those options are only for restoring archives. Not for archive.
About the button, since 2026 version, “Convert To Local Path” is the only option. And it’s always working, (by the way, even the button is showed as greyed-out) using the paths added in Path Translation preferences. If the system find a path added in this list, it will convert it automatically.
I don’t agree with this “new” behavior at all, but it is what it is.
